Venice is a city of many stories and legends. Describe the legend of the patron saint of Venice, St. Mark.

Centuries before, a priest had a dream that to save the city of Venice from sinking, the bones of St. Mark needed to be recovered from Egypt and buried beneath Venice. There was some trouble recovering the bones, but thanks to a wily thief, they were stolen and brought back to Venice. They supposedly remain beneath the city, keeping it above water to this day.
