The Innocent Man
Who is Debbie Carter from the nonfiction book, The Innocent Man?
.
.
Debbie Carter was a young woman who resided in Ada, Oklahoma in the early 1980s. She worked as a waitress at an Ada bar called the Coachlight. In early December of 1982, Debbie went home after finishing a shift at the bar. That night, the last person with whom she was seen was Glen Gore. The next day, a friend of Debbie went to Debbie’s apartment and found her dead body. Debbie had been raped, and the culprit had placed a washcloth in her mouth, on which she asphyxiated. There was much pressure on the police to find the culprit. Glen Gore was the most likely culprit, but instead of investigating him, the police instead arrested Ron Williamson and Dennis Fritz, despite the fact that there was no evidence linking them to the crime.
