Who is Hans from The Innocent and what is their importance?

Hans is a minor character, who briefly appears in the novel's final chapters. Like Blake, he is an espionage agent working for the Eastern Bloc. Hans manipulates Marnham into revealing secrets about the work being done at the facility, information that we can infer leads to the Eastern Bloc's raid on the facility.
