Who is Braling from The Illustrated Man and what is their importance?

Braling is a character in Marionettes Inc. He is described as an unhappy man who wishes to escape a life in which he finds no pleasure. Unfortunately, he decides to reade lives with a robot...... never expecting that the robot would not only be found a more favorable companion..... but that he'd be completely replaced.
