Who is Lisa Carter from The Hate You Give?

Lisa Carter is Starr's mother and Maverick's wife. She is employed as a nurse at the Garden Heights medical clinic, until she is later offered a better position in management at a hospital in a nicer neighborhood. Lisa worries about Starr's well-being, and the emotional toll the events of the story are taking on her, but she supports Maverick when he encourages her to speak out.
