Who is Veronica?

Veronica is the stylish, stern grandmother of Maddie and Dom. Once leading a secret life of abuse inflicted by her husband, the Colonel, she is able to take the reins when the Colonel’s mind becomes trapped in his war-infused past. Moving back to Avalon Island from Florida, Veronica realizes that she was never a good mother to her daughter Ginny. Dying from breast cancer, Veronica vows to give Ginny and her grandchildren everything they have ever wanted before it is time to go. She makes a “list” in her mind of all the things she needs to accomplish before her time is up. Fortunately for her family, this new look on life has made Veronica a more open-minded, thoughtful person, and they want to be around her. Once a farm girl from a poor family, Veronica becomes good friends with the other “outsider” on the island, Jules.
