Who is Ginny?

Ginny is the pill-addicted mother of Maddie and Dom and the daughter of Veronica and the Colonel. While no section of the novel is told from her perspective, Ginny is an easy character to sympathize with. The reader feels compassion for her as she was never properly loved by her parents and she now has an abusive husband. When Veronica returns to Avalon, she realizes how she rejected Ginny but does little to ameliorate the difficult living situation that her daughter lives in. Veronica also sees how Ginny craves for the Colonel's attention, but knows that he will never love Ginny in return.
