What caused Raju to focus on Rosie and how did that cause the character to unravel?

Raju shifted his attention back to Rosie after losing the relationship with his mother and losing Gaffur's friendship. Once again he found himself in the position of concentrating all of his affection and attention on Rosie. Eventually, this led the character into obsession, fear, self-doubt and emotional upheaval.
