In Theroux's view, how did the strictures of Islam affect Pakistani men?

Theroux pointed out that because of the strict separation of the sexes in Lahore, women were not seen on the street. Instead, he and the Pakistanis stared at pictures of movie stars and, in Theroux's view, developed an obsession with the few female body parts they could normally see. He believed the men ended up developing cartoonish fantasies.
