What does Margery tell Alice about a man hitting a woman in Chapter 12?

Margery tells Alice that the worst thing about a man hitting you is that you realize the truth of what it is to be a woman. You realize that no matter how smart you are, how much better you are at arguing, or how much better you are than they are they can shut you up with a fist. She said that that only applied until you learned to hit back harder.
