In Chapter 8, what did Garrett's mother say to Alice at Garrett's wake?

Alice attended Garrett's wake with Margery. An older woman asked Alice how she knew Garrett. When Alice told the woman she was the librarian, the woman said that she was Garrett's mother. She thanked Alice for reading to him. He had so looked forward to her visits, and they had helped take him out of himself.
