What kind of world does Jonas live in?

Jonas lives in a world where everything is peaceful, calm and organized. The people in Jonas' community have no sense of individual identity, and their lives are regulated from birth. Everyone is the same, no one chooses their own occupation, clothing is uniform, ages of acomplishment are dictated, and what we know as family.... is non-existent.
