in the giver, what do you think about the society Jonas lives in, what do you think about it so far? Are there any positives? Any negatives? Any concerns?

I always thought there was something odd about the society while reading the book. Things seemed too "perfect" yet superficial. Of course, the problem is that everyone is heavily controlled by the Elders. The darkness is hidden to those fortunate enough to be a part of the "normal society". People like Jonas and his family are supposed to have an emotional IQ of a toddler because nothing really "bad" is supposed to happen to them. The result is a very stilted and stagnant society.
