Jonas was told that his training would be more painful than anyone in the community could imagine. How has this been proven to be true?
Yes, in Chapter 13, The Giver gives Jonas the memory of several men killing an elephant with guns, and the reactions of the anguished mourning of another elephant that found the first animal's corpse. When Jonas returns home, he is weighted with his knowledge.
