How do Granny and Grandpa encourage Tomiko in Chapter Five?

Granny and Grandpa encourage Tomiko to not give up, to keep on living, because she is young and has an entire lifetime ahead of her. Tomiko wants to die in the cave with them, but they won't let her. They tell her that it is her duty to see to it that the blood of her mother and father, which flows in her veins, must live on.
