In Chapter Three, who is Edwin Needham?

Edwin Needham works for the NSA. He grew up in South Boston. His father had been a drunk who beat his mother. He belonged to a gang as a teenager, but he had a thirst for knowledge. A physics teacher helped him get a scholarship and a transfer to a better school. He excelled at his studies, received more scholarships, and studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. He was recruited by the NSA. He is the NSA's most senior security chief.
