What is the theme in The Gin Game by D. L. Coburn?

One major theme in the play wasted opportunities. When we meet Fonsia and Weller, there are hopes the two can find a kind of fulfillment in each other's company. Unfortunately, these two character are no more able to grasp this opportunity than the opportunies they'd passed up earlier in life.
