What metaphors are used in The Forgotten by Elie Wiesel?

London "remembers" the funeral from the future. In the beginning she thinks the funeral is in the future and that it might be her child's funeral. At the end of the book it is discovered that London is remembering the funeral from the past. The funeral was held for her brother Jonas: a metaphor for her thoughts.
