Who is Ida from The Floating Island and what is their importance?

Ida is a human girl, who Ven meets in Kingston when she tries to pick his pocket. Ida has no last name and no parents, as she, like so many others, is an orphan. She picks pockets to get by and trusts no one. Over the course of the story, Ven realizes that Ida does the wrong things simply to be noticed. She is alone in the world and craves attention, even if that attention is negative.
