What is the king's verdict on Ven's crimes?

The king excuses Ven of all the crimes he has been accused of. He says that he can't be tried for murder because it sounds like the boat's owner was in league with the fire pirates and it is doubtful that he stole Mr. Whiting's ring. The ring does not even look like it has ever seen sea air.
