How does the author use foreshadowing in The Final Detail?

In Chapter 19, we see a bit of foreshadowing in Sophie's insistence that Myron and Lucy have some kind of connection to each other. Myron is very doubtful about this. How can they be connected? Myron does not recall ever meeting Lucy. How could someone think he knew of her whereabouts? Later on in the novel, the reader will learn the true connection between Myron and Lucy, as Sophie's pushing Myron to find out who sent the diskette actually leads him to discover who what happened to Lucy.
