What information about Peter Van Houten does Augustus relate to Hazel in Chapter 5?

Augustus tells Hazel that he found the author's assistant. He says he emailed her, she passed it onto the author, Peter Van Houten, and that the author responded. Peter says he is not and does not plan to continue writing. This means they still won't find out what happened to the characters in the book.
