What do Hazel and her mother encounter when the approach the door of Augustus’s house in Chapter 10? How do they respond?

When they pick Augustus up, they hear crying come from the house. Augustus is the one crying as he yells at his mom that it's his life. Hazel and her mom return to the car before Augustus sees them and Hazel texts him to say they're outside.
