The labels ‘Child A’ and ‘Child B’ symbolize the way in which Caleb and Camille’s work often stripped Annie and Buster of autonomy and identity. Camille and Caleb always referred to Annie and Buster as ‘Child A’ and ‘Child B’ when discussing or writing about the Fang family performance art pieces. Caleb and Camille also often address their children with these labels—rather than with their actual names—in general conversation.
