What happens to Carlo?

Carlo is taking money from what he collects from Tommy. He wants to get out of the organization and find a different job. When he and his family go to the ocean with Joey and his family, Carlo is awakened in the middle of the night by a soft knock at the door. The innkeeper tells Carlo he is wanted on the phone. When Carlo answers the phone, Tommy tells him to come outside and take a walk. Carlo is never seen again.
