Who is Turgon?

Turgon is the King of Gondolin who escaped The Battle of Unnumbered Tears along with many of his followers. It is not entirely clear weather Turgon built Gondolin before the battle or if it was created with Ulmo’s help after. However, it is clear that Turgon is wise and an experienced crafter like his Noldoli brethren. However, Turgon still harbors resentment toward the Valar after the Noldoli’s banishment from Valinor and hesitates to listen to Ulmo’s words. Turgon believes that Gondolin will protect them without realizing that his closest advisor, Meglin, is planning to overthrow him. As the city falls, Turgon gives up his crown and urges his people to follow Tuor to safety as he realizes it was his stubbornness that led to Morgoth’s victory. Turgon is killed by Morgoth’s army.
