what is Idril?

Idril is Turgon’s daughter, Tuor’s wife, and Eärendel’s mother. Idril is a wise woman with the ability to see darkness in people’s hearts and sees visions of the fall of Gondolin seven years before it happens. It is Idril’s foresight that allows the survivors to escape through a secret tunnel that she convinces Tuor to make after she dreams of Meglin’s betrayal. Idril is a fierce fighter who defends her home against Morgoth’s army until Voronwë forces her to run to safety.
