comment on structure

The novel is sectioned off into chronological months beginning with January and ending the following year in November. It follows the course of the four seasons and there are chapter subheadings under each month. The seasonal chapters correspond with different points of the characters lives and the changing of the seasons symbolizes different transformations for different characters.
