What is the main conflict in The End of the Affair by Graham Greene?

In Book V, Chapter I, the main conflict is between the priest and Bendrix’ sense of Sarah’s atheism. Her letter makes it clear she has found faith, and that her love for Bendrix himself introduced her to it. Thus, the only remaining tension is man versus self.....
