What is the setting of the memoir, The End of Your Life Book Club?

The book is set in the early twenty-first century, basically in modern times. The novel takes place mostly on the East Coast of the United States, with many of its scenes taking place inside hospitals as Will waits with his mother for chemotherapy to start.
