anne had strained relations with her mother.referring to mrs. frank's positive and negative qualities discuss how far was she to be blamed for such a relationship?
In Diary of Anne Frank, Mrs. Edith Frank and Anne have a strained relationship. This is due, in a large part, to the clash of personalities and cultural expectations. Mrs. Frank had been raised in a very orthodox household and the expecations surrounding the habits and attitudes of a Jewish woman were stricting mandated. In attempting to place these same restraints on her youngest daughter, she has made her daughter rebellious. Since she feels that it is her duty as a good wife and mother to mold her young daughter into a proper Jewish woman, she does not pause to view her daughter as a growing young woman and as someone with an opinion. Additionally, Mrs. Frank is trapped in the past, and Anne is purely about the future and the modern era.
