What is the author's style in The Diary of a Country Priest by Georges Bernanos?

The language of this novel is what one might expect of a highly educated young priest. The writing is grammatically correct with only a few places where the priest has departed from this correctness in an attempt to capture the unique quirks of a particular person's speech patterns.
