What comic elements do you find in the account of the wake that Peter Ivanovich attends?

The comic element has more to do with Peter Ivanovich's rather awkward behavior at the wake than anything else. Peter wants to escape the morose and discomforting feelings of the funeral and longs to play bridge with his colleagues. As he pretends to grieve he must constantly assure himself that he is alive and that Ivan is the one who has died.
