Who is Miss Ivors from The Dead and what is their importance?

Miss Ivors is a friend of Gabriel's. Like Gabriel, Miss Ivors is a teacher and Irish nationalist and believes in the importance of cultural education (Irish). She does, however, name Gabriel a "West Briton" because he writes for the Daily Express—"West Briton" is a derogatory term meaning someone loyal to British rule in Ireland, and the Daily Express a newspaper with the political stance favorable to the British.
