In Chapter 2, how does Ruby describe the trip to Thurmond?

Ruby said that it was raining the day they brought her and the other children to Thurmond. The children were transported on a school bus with four children to each seat. All of the children had their hands tied behind their backs.There were about a hundred children on the bus, and it was unbearably crowded with children and guards.
