Who is Miss Pauling from The Dark Wind and what is their importance?

Miss Pauling (Gail) is the sister of the pilot that flew the plane delivering the drug shipment. She arrives at Wepo Wash, accompanied by attorney Ben Gaines. They are there in an attempt to discover how her younger brother, Robert, was killed. Gail is staying at the Hopi Cultural Center motel, and she completely refuses to take Chee's advice to go home.
