How did Amos treat Henri growing up in "The Legend of Pin Oak"?

Although Amos never admitted publicly that Henri was his son, Amos always treated him with compassion and gave him special privileges around the plantation, including making him overseer. Henri had always had more love and interest in the plantation than Harper, anyway.
