Who is Gao from The Covenant and what is their importance?

Gao is Kharu and Gumsto's son. He is next in line to lead their clan. Gao is not yet the hunter his father hoped for, as he seems to lack the instincts necessary for the task. He prefers drawing and has a talent for conveying grace and simplicity the accuracy of a moment. While artistic impression is highly prized among the clan, his father would prefer he set his drawings aside until he learns to hunt.
