What is the author's style in The Complete Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm by Brothers Grimm?

When collecting these stories, the Grimm brothers wrote them down as they were being told. Because these are translations of oral stories, the language is very informal and relaxed. The language used to tell the stories is the common language of the days in which the stories were told. Even though many of the tales do teach a moral lesson, they are mostly meant to entertain.
