In context, many of Singer's stories include rabbis. It is important to note that when a rabbi is called upon to perform an exorcism, the rabbi symbolically drives out the ancient beliefs in multiple evil spirits and replaces them with a single God who is an omnipotent force for good. In that context, many of Singers' stories where supernatural forces overtake man there is a moral lesson: the evil of the world is
in ourselves, not in devils, dybbuks, and imps.
