Sylvie is a representation of a life lived with very few regrets. Her carefree attitude, willingness to forgive, and preference for memories over objects directly contradicts Clover’s insular view on the world. Yet, without her, Clover would never have seen what it truly means to live for one’s self and dreams rather than dwelling on the needs and emotions of others. Sylvie’s upbeat personality and patience shows Clover what kind of future she could have and gives her the time to understand it herself.
