One major theme in the novel, The Coldest Winter Ever, is the impact (power) of drugs in low income neighborhoods, suffering from immense poverty. For many of these poverty stricken individuals, the drug trade becomes a way of life.... a primary source of income, which in turn, provides a sunstantial income. Unfortunately, this lifestyle also involves preying on the community and participating in violence with other dealers..... a huge circle of violence that continues from one generation to the next.
