The many different rings in the novel represent a transfer of power. In the first scene, Nahri scams the basha for his ring. In another scene at Khanzada’s, Muntadhir gives the young dancer his ring when she becomes humiliated. Dara wears an immense, emerald ring. In the Grand Temple there is a ring that resembles Dara’s. Under the palace in the hidden chamber there is a ring. Finally, Ali gives his grandfather’s ring to a beggar.
