The downtrodden city of Disposable is a representation of the valueless Things that humans often replace without concern. This is a rundown town because the Things in disposable are seen as almost as worthless as the Surplus in the Wastes. They still serve a purpose in the Land of the Living, but their loss is more of a temporary setback than an actual issue. This is meant to encourage the reader to value all of their Things as each one is important in their own way. Even the Things in Disposable can be recycled into something new one day, and all serve their purpose.
