At the end of the narrative, the woman boards a train and rides away from the city. The narrator does not reveal where the woman is going, or for how long. While on the train, the woman watches the world pass through the window. What she sees inspires her to further consider her particular version of religious belief. The train grants the woman perspective on her story and her life.
