After the hut is blown away in the tempest, what does Timothy do to protect Phillip from the storm?

After the hut blows away, Timothy tells Phillip it is time to tie themselves to a palm tree for safety. To protect Phillip from the winds and driving rain, Timothy first ties Phillip to the tree, and then ties himself at Phillip's back to shield him from the storm.
