Importance of Bullet

The bullet is a symbol of friendship. Bethany weighs this bullet in her hand as she considers what she should do about the email she received asking for a meeting. At the end of the novel, the reader learns Mike’s name is engraved on the bullet. This indicates the threat is against Mike, not Bethany. Bethany decides to abandon her investigation and fake her death to protect Mike.
