The Boy in the Black Suit

The last line of Chapter 16 is “Or maybe the funeral was over”. Think about what Matt’s dream symbolizes. Now that the funeral is “over”, what else is “over” for Matt?

The end of Chapter 16 marks a turning point for Matt... the realization that his mother will always be with him, and that rather than grieve her loss, he should embrace their memories.
