Chapter 12 is another short chapter, what is the benefit of this chapter being short. and then what's the problem with this chapter being short?

Chapter 12 is short in order to provide the reader with some of the backstory for the characters, it also provides a bit of foreshadowing. The problem with its length is that the author doesn't answer all of our questions... we're left wanting more.
