What happens in Chapter 4?

In Chapter Four, the Boundless stops at a shanty town where Will is given permission to explore until they are ready to leave. Will is discouraged that his father doesn’t want to come with him on this adventure. He attempts to find Maren, strolling through different merchants and crowds trying to find her. He hears one merchant talk about the muskeg. The muskeg is a harsh bog where it was nearly impossible to actually build a railway on because of the difficult terrain. He buys a few different items from merchants that are supposed to protect him from the dangers of the wilds. Will starts to explore in the forest where he runs into Brogan who is in the process of murdering one of the guards to Van Borne’s train car. Will grabs the key to the car and runs into the woods, only just managing to get back to the train, jumping onto the last car.
